Review A

【Driving Experience】
In a word, the power is more than sufficient. Even in Eco mode, the vehicle still accelerates very quickly from a standstill. When overtaking, there is abundant power reserve, making overtaking smooth and decisive. It still delivers a good power performance even when the battery is low. Basically, on the road, no one can overtake the Bao 5 except for performance electric vehicles or large V8s. However, being a 2.9-ton behemoth, accelerating too fast can be a bit thrilling.

Thanks to the 20-inch wheels I chose, which are paired with front 6-piston calipers, the braking distance is shorter. Additionally, according to the review by Reviewer 38 and my personal experience, the calibration for the coordination between braking and regenerative braking is excellent (I can't remember what this calibration is called, but there is a specific term for it). In the initial stage of braking, regenerative braking will actively engage, with an instantaneous power of up to -60kW (when decelerating from 100km/h), meaning the instantaneous charging power can reach 60kW, which provides a very strong braking force; only when you press the brake further will the mechanical braking engage. This combination allows the braking distance of such a heavy vehicle to be controlled within 40 meters. Due to the above calibration, it's best to keep the regenerative braking at the default standard setting. When you really need active energy recovery, just gently press the brake pedal, avoiding the bad habit of one-pedal driving.

The chassis performance in the city has its pros and cons. The road feel is extremely clear; you can feel every seam, gravel, and small pothole. These small bumps are not well cushioned and feel quite harsh, which isn't very comfortable (though I don't mind the clear road feel as it creates a sense of interaction with the environment). Larger potholes or undulations (such as construction sections or roads long damaged by heavy vehicles) are actually more comfortable (what many car reviewers call "the mid-to-late stage is relatively soft"), and it can also handle high-speed driving over small hills well. However, driving on such roads inevitably gives a swaying, boat-like feeling, after all, it's a body-on-frame vehicle. There is noticeable body roll during sharp turns, but you can turn with confidence as it will definitely hold steady.

Overall, the Bao 5 ensures off-road capability while balancing on-road comfort. With a body-on-frame chassis, front and rear double wishbone suspension, and a high ride height, the chassis performance is quite good.

【Range】
Location: Nanjing. Recent temperature: around -5°C to 10°C. It has no problem driving 100km in the city. If driving on the highway at over 120km/h, the range will definitely be less than 100km. The total range combining fuel and electricity should be 1000km for all-city driving, and 800-850km for all-highway driving. The total fuel tank capacity is 83L, so you can calculate the real fuel consumption based on that. The fuel gauge is inaccurate and optimistic, so be careful not to let the range get too low to avoid miscalculations and breaking down on the road.

【Intelligence】
The intelligence level has reached the current mainstream level of domestic cars.

The infotainment system is a highlight. Compared with other brands, the UI is not as sophisticated, but the system is relatively open and compatible with many Android apps (Genshin Impact, launch!). However, unlike other BYD models, the main screen cannot rotate, so some apps that require a landscape screen cannot display properly and require finding third-party app tools online. You can find them by searching for "BYD infotainment system commonly used software".

The engine tachometer can also be solved through a third-party app, which is convenient for those with obsessive-compulsive disorder.

【Highlight Features】
"Amusement park activities" in the off-road circle, such as mud bogging, snow driving, hill climbing, and rock crawling, don't appeal to me. I prefer cross-country scenarios where reaching the destination is just the first step. I also want rich experiences at the destination, and the Bao 5 can provide me with:

A refrigerator with a compressor, passenger entertainment screen, karaoke, an infotainment system compatible with Android apps, high-power external discharge, high-power stationary power generation, and camping mode.

【Most Dissatisfying Aspects】
First, the performance of the advanced driver assistance system is poor. It is hard to feel confident in large curves and road entrances/exits. I only dare to use it in two situations: good road conditions during the day, or severe traffic jams where I just need to slowly follow the car ahead.

Second, the automatic parking is unsafe in some cases. Sometimes when the distance from obstacles is already very close and the radar starts beeping, the vehicle still shows no sign of stopping or adjusting its position. I don't dare to take the risk and always intervene manually. Of course, I don't rely on this function; I just play with it occasionally.

Third, the AR-HUD still has focusing issues. It's better than the test drive car, but the left half of the screen still feels out of focus. It's fine when viewed with one eye, or if you tilt your head slightly to the right, it becomes clear. When navigating, since the navigation information covers the entire HUD area, you'll notice that the right side of the screen is significantly clearer than the left, providing a better viewing experience. Although the HUD issue doesn't affect usage, it's always noticeable, so I hope it can be improved.

Fourth, there is limited storage space. A lot of space is allocated to the refrigerator. The storage compartment below the driver's seat, which most cars have, has been replaced with an NFC感应区 (and I tried many times to bind my phone's NFC key but couldn't succeed anyway). The storage space under the charging area is relatively large but very shallow, so items tend to slide out during sharp turns.

Fifth, the vehicle length is slightly short. If the whole vehicle were 10-20 centimeters longer, the second-row space and trunk would be larger, making the size perfect.

Review B

First Experience with the New Car
【Least Satisfied】
The shock absorption on low-speed minor bumpy roads is average. Hope replacing it with the official KM nitrogen shock absorbers later can improve this issue (According to friends who test-drove the Yun Nian version, Yun Nian is completely a different car, solving the problems of shock absorption, body roll, and nose dive/squat).
【Driving Experience】
Driving it is very enjoyable. The power is strong, the throttle response is quick, the steering feel is moderate, the brakes are linear, the turning radius is small, and the visibility is very good. There is some body roll and nose dive/squat during aggressive driving. If budget allows, it is recommended to directly go for the Yun Nian version.
【Fuel Consumption and Range】
Basically use pure electric mode in the urban area, driving as enjoyably as possible. When the temperature is around 0 degrees, the comprehensive electricity consumption直奔40 kWh/100km, and the fuel consumption when battery is low is 8-9 L/100km; On the highway, pure electric consumption is about 30 kWh/100km, and fuel consumption when battery is low is about 10 L/100km; Mainly use Eco or Comfort mode, with intelligent battery preservation at 25% and standard kinetic energy recovery. Currently, driving in pure electric mode in urban areas for about 60 km will switch to HEV mode, and about 80 km on the highway in pure electric mode will switch to HEV mode. Rarely use pure fuel, so haven't tested it! This aspect is greatly related to everyone's driving habits and car usage habits. My energy consumption for electric vehicles is also much higher than that of my friend's same model!
【Riding Experience】
The seats are neither soft nor hard, and the sound insulation is good. The car is too tall, so you need to pull the handle to get on. The front seats are more comfortable than the rear ones. The problem of poor shock absorption on low-speed minor bumps still exists. The riding space is sufficient. The car length, excluding the spare tire, is at the level of a compact SUV. The rear floor is completely flat, and the headroom is very spacious. The trunk is a bit small.
【Exterior and Interior】
Really like this square box shape, full of masculinity. The exterior and interior are my favorite among all Di Zi models. The real car looks better than the pictures. The interior texture is good, and the Devialet sound effect is also very good. The new car had little smell after being ventilated for a few days. The fragrance that came with the car hasn't been used yet, will try it when I get a chance.
【Vehicle Intelligence】
The vehicle has many functions, most of which can be directly controlled by voice. Mobile remote control, NFC key, Bluetooth key and other functions are very practical. The provided data plan is enough for me just for navigation and listening to music!

【Sales Attitude】
The sales attitude was okay, and they were relatively proactive in solving problems. The 4S store has a bit of a luxury brand experience.
【Other Experiences】
The car is really big, making parking inconvenient. Fortunately, the remote parking function solves a lot of troubles; It's quite eye-catching, and people often come to ask about it; Originally thought I would be reluctant to use fuel, but actually there is no fuel anxiety or range anxiety!
【Problems】
After using the car for more than half a year, I encountered some problems during this period. Hope it can be trouble-free and worry-free in the future!

Summary: No one is perfect, and no car is perfect. The Leopard 5 is a good car for me. Hope to take my family to enjoy the beautiful scenery and great rivers and mountains of the motherland in the days to come!

Review C

A detailed introduction to this car
1. Outstanding loading capacity
With the rear seats folded down, it can accommodate 2 - meter - long curtain rods, camping gear, and even bicycles. The trunk can easily hold large items in its regular state, making it completely stress - free for daily cargo hauling, and it is not inferior to micro - vans.
The internal width is better than that of hard - core off - road vehicles in the same class, such as the Tank 400. My 300 - jin friend doesn't feel crowded no matter where he sits.
2. Thoughtful detail design
Physical buttons are retained (for air conditioning, volume, and four - wheel drive mode switching), making blind operation convenient; the center console has ample storage space. Maybe it's because my Explore version doesn't have a refrigerator.
3. Powerful performance
Dual motors + 1.5T plug - in hybrid system, with a 0 - 100km/h acceleration time of 4.8 seconds. There is a明显 pushing feeling when starting at traffic lights and overtaking on the highway, and there is no pressure when climbing hills with a full load. At the same time, the high - speed fuel consumption is indeed unsatisfactory, but compared with hard - core off - road vehicles in the same class or even all vehicles with a ladder frame, this fuel consumption performance is obviously low.
It has strong passability on unpaved roads, easily handles cross - axles and炮弹坑, and has good body stability.
4. Flexible handling
Although it has a length of 5 meters, the turning radius is small, making it easy to turn around in narrow alleys; the chassis tuning is偏向运动, with excellent vibration filtering in urban areas, but the rear row has a slight bounce when passing speed bumps at low speeds.
5. Infotainment system performance: It responds quickly, but it seems not to understand commands clearly, not as smart as Li Auto's. The infotainment system occasionally freezes when first turned on.
6. Comfort and interior
Now comes my favorite part. The interior of the Bao 5 is really unbeatable at the same price. Whether it's off - road vehicles or sedans in the 200,000 yuan range, basically none have an interior that makes me more tempted than the Bao 5's. The center console crystal and surrounding ambient lights are really amazing, creating a good sense of luxury. The leather seats have good air permeability, and the lifting gear shift lever is far ahead. When I bought the new car, it basically had no smell, just like when my dad bought a Volvo before.
7. Audio system
The audio system of the Bao 5 can only be described as exaggerated. Compared with the fully equipped BO of the 55a6, the small BO of the Volvo XC60, and the audio of the Li Auto L8, the bass is rich and not harsh, and the mid - to high - range is clear. For someone like me who can't drive without music, it's really great, and it's also one of the biggest reasons I chose the Bao 5.
8. Excellent sound insulation
At a speed of 120km/h, the mute effect is close to that of an electric car. After 130km/h, the noise is equivalent to that of a fuel - powered car. It should be T0 among hard - core off - road vehicles.
9. Fuel consumption performance
It should be the lowest in the same category. Usually, pure electric power is barely enough, but burning 8 liters of fuel per 100km in the urban area doesn't make me feel心疼 at all.
Summary
It has almost all the advantages of new energy vehicles and hard - core off - road vehicles. The disadvantages may only be reflected in severe cold weather. I haven't encountered any in summer, so I'll talk about it then.
