I'm about to graduate with a master's degree and will be moving from Chengdu to work in Chongqing. I'll probably have to commute back and forth on the highway on weekends. After thinking about it for a long time, I finally chose the Li Auto L7 Max. Let me share my reasons; these are just my personal feelings for your reference.
1. Range
The new Max's 52 kWh battery is one of the things that attracted me, with an advertised range of 286 kilometers. In my own driving, I can get around 210 kilometers in the city with the air conditioning on, and about 190 kilometers on the highway at 120 km/h. If you can install a charging pile at home or the company, electricity costs only a few cents per kWh at night. Even if I drive a lot in a month, the electricity bill is only a few dozen yuan, which is cheaper than when I used to drive my family's old Toyota Camry gasoline car.
2. Extended-range
The extended-range system is another reason for my choice. Even if I occasionally forget to charge or need to take a long trip on short notice, the official claim is over 1,400 kilometers with a full tank of fuel and a full charge, and the actual range is pretty close. It gives me a great sense of security. Also, the range extender does make a bit of noise when it starts, but it's not too bad if you have music on. When the battery is low, the fuel consumption on the highway is around 8 liters per 100 kilometers.
3. Smart Driving
Young people tend to pursue new technologies, so I chose the smart driving version. I also experienced its end-to-end intelligent driving during the test drive, and the salesperson mentioned it at the time too.
4. Suspension
The dual-chamber air suspension with "Magic Carpet" really lives up to the hype. It's very supple when going over speed bumps, unlike some cars that feel stiff and harsh. I test drove both the L6 and L7, and the difference is noticeable. I heard it's a technology borrowed from the L9, but netizens say it's expensive to repair.
