Review A
Everything is quite good. It's really appealing. I'm looking forward to its continuous evolution and the upgrades of lidar, Orin chips, and the 120-degree large battery. For details, please refer to my test drive report.
Confident, unique, I am free to be myself.
Driving experience
The overall feeling of the chassis is stable. It remains taut in various modes, with a quick and resilient rebound and a proper balance between softness and hardness. I think it very much suits the positioning of the L7. There is no noise from the suspension, exuding a high-class feel. The accelerator acceleration is truly smooth, based on two points: Firstly, the response is very fast, and you can hardly feel any delay. Secondly, the start (especially when starting with a heavy foot on the accelerator) is very gentle and controlled, providing a very comfortable experience for all passengers in the car. Many other electric vehicles may have a delay or suddenly throw you forward.
The braking performance really has a high limit, which should be attributed to the tires and the four-piston Brembo brakes. You can have full confidence in it. Whether it's coming to a stop at high speed or making an emergency deceleration to avoid an obstacle, it can handle it with ease. I've mentioned the rear-wheel steering many times. At low speeds, it shortens the virtual wheelbase, making the car extremely flexible. When cornering or changing lanes at high speeds, it's as stable as an old hand (unfortunately, I didn't get to experience this due to the road conditions this time).
In terms of the various control configurations of the IM L7, such as the CDC intelligent electronic shock absorbers, accelerator and brake control, WAE chassis tuning, brake and tire configurations, etc., they have elevated the overall driving control to a new level. It can truly be called the flagship of driving control in the new era. As I've said before, the driving control limit of the L7 is very high, and it can easily handle all the daily extreme conditions that ordinary car owners may encounter, whether it's sudden acceleration (without slipping), sudden braking, sudden direction changes, or a combination of these actions.
I call this driving control redundancy. I also asked the people sitting in the car with me about their feelings. My wife and the photographer were sitting in the back row. Although they felt the excitement, they thought the car was very stable, without any disturbing noises, slipping, or tail-swinging situations, even though there were no roof grab handles (of course, it would be better if there were). All of these can contribute to the driving pleasure.
The title of the No. 1 domestic electric vehicle with top-notch driving control performance should be hard to shake. I'm responsible for this statement. Of course, if the car owner purely pursues comfort, like a soft suspension similar to a big sofa, then the L7 may not be the right choice, especially for the rear passengers.
Space experience
The front row is very spacious, with plenty of headroom, legroom, and width, so it's very comfortable. When you get in the car, you have a great view. The front of the car slopes down in a diving style, and the front view isn't blocked by the front of the car. Instead, it gives the visual impression that the front of the car is very short. The design of the side rearview mirrors is also quite good. Although they aren't very large, they are clear and sufficient.
The drawback is that there isn't much storage space. The storage areas under the center console, in the center armrest box, and in the doors on both sides, including the rear doors, are just average. They can probably hold about 1.5 bottles of 500ml mineral water. When the rear armrest is lowered, it seems a bit short. The cup holders are well-designed, but it seems difficult to use the cup holders and the armrest perfectly at the same time. This problem exists in both the front and rear rows.
The rear row isn't very friendly to tall and long-legged people. There are issues such as insufficient headroom and thigh support, and the seats are a bit short. However, the legroom is more than enough. I'm 177cm tall, and there's still more than three fists of space when I sit in the back. But the middle position in the rear row really feels like a small bench. The sitting position is a bit higher, and there's no headrest at the back. It can only be used for extremely short trips in an emergency.
In addition, due to the pure electric platform and the battery pack, the body is higher, and the seats are a bit low (especially in the rear row. This is a compromise that pure electric vehicles have to make for the sake of headroom). Coupled with the side skirts designed for the sake of appearance, getting in and out of the car is indeed a bit more troublesome than in an ordinary fuel vehicle. It's not very friendly to people with short legs, and they may often rub their calves.
Interior
My wife said the interior has a great texture. It's not an overstatement to describe it as "understated luxury." This is an overall feeling that comes from the solid and high-class materials and the avant-garde design, such as the high-quality microfiber roof, the Como Lake wood trim with a logo indicating latitude and longitude, the semi-aniline seats and other leather upholstery, the appropriate color scheme, and the metal speaker grilles.
The meticulous selection of materials is also reflected in the sound insulation. During the test drive, when waiting at a traffic light, there was a large truck beside me. I tried the effect of closing the window, and after closing the window, I could hardly hear any sound from the truck. This is especially important for an electric vehicle and also lays the foundation for fully realizing the full effect of the audio system. Even with only 13 speakers, the sound quality performance is quite remarkable. It at least beats many standard audio systems, as well as those from Harman, little Burmester, and British֮±¦. Of course, I hope that through later optimization, it can approach the level of Bowers & Wilkins.
To be honest, the sun visor in the front row is a bit small, but it doesn't have much of an impact. The design of the vanity mirror is like that of a Tesla, with a flip-up magnetic cover, but the texture is much better.
The texture of the ambient lighting is good in the areas where there are lights, but the brightness is a bit dim during the day. You can hardly see the ambient lighting on the door panel of your own seat, but it's quite clear on the opposite side. You also can't see the ambient lighting on the floor during the day, so the brightness can be adjusted. The overall ambient lighting fails to create the desired atmosphere.
Yesterday, I specifically studied the location of the air vents. I think there's room to add ambient lighting. There are also rumors that they're researching this. I hope they can launch an official improvement plan as soon as possible. The seat heating is great. It has multiple adjustable levels and various modes, with appropriate intensity. Regarding the ventilation, I have some details to mention. Currently, the ventilation level isn't adjustable and should be optimized through OTA. There's no ventilation in the seat cushion, and there's air coming from the backrest, but the air output isn't very strong. I hope this can be optimized later.
Personally, I think the feel and force of the buttons on the steering wheel are okay. The motor vibration feedback in the sea cucumber mode is also quite good. However, you need to get used to using these buttons, and you need to press them in a more central position. Otherwise, it's easy to feel that the buttons are very heavy because you can't press them down properly. In fact, as long as you press in the right position, normal force is enough.
Regarding the odor inside the car, there's really no smell at all. This test drive car should have been driven by not many people. Before the test drive, I looked at an Audi A7L on display. The contrast was obvious. Although most of the smell in that car was from the genuine leather, for families with children, this is one of the invisible standards that define luxury.
Appearance
It's an experience that starts with the appearance. The combination of the front headlights, the integrated design of the ISC lights and the tail spoiler all reflect the uniqueness of the L7. My favorite is the curve of the rear of the car. It's especially obvious in the rearview mirror. The whole car looks a bit like a wide-body vehicle. You can only feel its "muscularity" and "lines" when you get up close.
Finally, I want to say that the IM L7 lives up to the one-year wait and even exceeds expectations!
Review B
¡¾Endurance¡¿
This car is mainly used for commuting. Usually, it travels about 30 kilometers back and forth in the urban area. The road conditions are okay, and the basic speed can be maintained above 60 kilometers per hour. It can run over 460 kilometers on a full charge, which is more than enough for the five working days a week. Moreover, there are charging piles downstairs of the office building, which is very convenient. On weekends, when going back to my hometown on the highway, the one-way distance is 200 kilometers, cruising at a speed of about 110 kilometers per hour, and a single charge is also sufficient. It's also enough for self-driving tours in the surrounding areas. Recently, as the temperature has dropped, driving more gently, it can run a little over 400 kilometers on a full charge, which is still acceptable.
¡¾Least Satisfied¡¿
The IM L7 has almost no physical knobs. The windows are operated by pressing touch controls, which I'm not quite used to. I tried to get used to it for a week but still couldn't. I always have to look down, so I have to rely on voice recognition for operation. The recognition rate of the voice recognition is okay when I speak from the driver's seat, and it's quite sensitive. However, when my wife in the back row or the passenger seat speaks, the recognition sensitivity decreases. Maybe it's because her voice is too soft or she has an accent.
Another issue is the rear seats. Due to the battery, the floor seems quite high. If I sit for a long time, I'll feel a bit uncomfortable with my thighs bent, and I'll unconsciously slide down to find a more comfortable sitting position.
¡¾Intelligence¡¿
The IM L7 is rich in intelligent configurations. Some practical ones include intelligent driving, 360-degree panoramic imaging, and voice control. When commuting, turning on intelligent driving makes following the vehicle and automatic lane changes very worry-free. Especially for automatic lane changes, as long as the turn signal is turned on, the vehicle changes lanes smoothly, and it only changes lanes after confirming absolute safety.
The key is that it can also recognize large trucks and prevent some vehicles that try to cut in forcefully from getting in. To be honest, large trucks are really fast these days, which is quite scary. The IM L7 can keep away from large trucks, which is really good. Then there's the 360-degree panoramic imaging. Since the IM L7 has a long body, it can avoid scratches in narrow spaces. As for voice recognition, I'm just too lazy to operate on the screen, so I just rely on voice control.
¡¾Driving Experience¡¿
I'm not really a car enthusiast, so I don't have particularly professional evaluations of things like zero-to-hundred acceleration and cornering control. I'll mainly talk about my feelings during daily use. The power is really fast, much stronger than the previous Audi A6L in my family, which is more than enough for commuting. The suspension is a bit stiff, but it's not too bumpy.
¡¾Riding Experience¡¿
The seats are very soft and comfortable, and they also have a massage function. The space in both the front and rear rows is quite good, which is sufficient for family use. It's just that although the trunk has enough depth, its height is a bit insufficient. I lifted the trunk floor and checked. It should be that the motor takes up some space.
In addition, the noise reduction performance is very good. When the door is closed, the outside noise and wind noise are basically very little, making the driving experience very pleasant.
Review C
Before I start: I picked up my car at the end of June, and it's been nearly four months now. After reading so many posts from car owners, I still feel there are differences, so I can't help but come up and give some comments. At that time, there was a GLC and an EC6 in my family, both SUVs. Considering that I'm getting older and can't drive SUVs well, mainly because my waist can't take it, I wanted to change to a sedan. I originally wanted to choose the ET7, but the seat design of NIO... When I used to drive the EC6 on long - distance trips, after four or five hours, my waist was in terrible pain. So after some hesitation between the ET7 and the L7, I chose the L7. I also wanted to experience a new - energy vehicle from a different brand.
[Appearance]
The overall lines of the car body are very smooth. The low - lying design also has a strong sports attribute. The ¡Æ - shaped headlights in the front are also very distinctive. The entire front - face design is something that my wife and I like. Just as I told the car owners who were hesitating between the ET7 and the L7 before, choose the L7 if you like the front - face, and choose the ET7 if you prefer the rear. The car as a whole looks very youthful, and it also has a good sense of fashion, which meets the overall aesthetic of my family. I think this is where it has an edge.
[Interior]
The sense of class of the interior is comparable to that of the ET7, depending on personal preference. The reason I finally chose the L7 is that there is no odor, which was also promoted as a selling point by the official before. My wife cares a lot about this. After all, I still clearly remember that the 4S store had to air out the GLC for two months when we bought it. When I got the new car, I could directly use it to take my kids to and from school without any special odor - removal treatment. I'm quite satisfied with this. But considering the price, I think odor - removal should be a basic operation. If there was an odor, I definitely wouldn't have bought it.
[Space]
There are four people in my family, my wife, my kids, and my mother - in - law, so the overall space is quite large. There is no sense of crampedness as some people said. I'm 175 cm tall, and when I sit in the driver's seat, there is at least one and a half fists of space between my head and the roof, and there is also a relatively large space for my legs to move. The overall feeling is very comfortable. I want to emphasize that when driving, the support of the seat for my waist and back is really much better than before. This is especially obvious when driving on long - distance trips. Maybe because there were still some defects in the seat design of the previous EC6, my feeling after changing the car is even more obvious!
[Endurance]
I charge the car once a week now. The official cruising range is 615 kilometers. But after driving new - energy vehicles for several years, except for Tesla, I have a clear idea about the endurance of other new - energy brands. Basically, I can drive about 460 - 480 km with one weekly charge. I usually turn on the air - conditioner and listen to music. The power consumption is 19.2, which is lower than that of my previous car. I think the current configuration of charging piles is enough, and I don't have any range anxiety. When going on a long - distance trip, the fast - charging stations of the State Grid are very convenient. I think the market has taught me well, haha.
[Driving experience]
There's nothing to say about the power and acceleration. This should be standard for new - energy vehicles. It's really cool to overtake in the city. In this regard, sedans are much better than SUVs. On the highway, the large screen in the front can automatically lower to get a better view, which is really great. But regarding the screen, I hope there can be a locking function. Sometimes when my kids sit in the passenger seat, they always touch it randomly. It would be great if there was a locking function. The four - wheel steering is extremely comfortable to use. It's very flexible to operate and can turn exactly where you want. When turning or making a U - turn in narrow alleys, it's much more flexible and comfortable than my previous EC6. This is something I'm particularly satisfied with. Also, the sound system. It's my driving habit to always have music on. At the beginning, the sound was really amazing, but now I don't find it as amazing as before. I guess I'm just used to it and don't feel surprised anymore.
