Review A
The appearance of the B01 is like a sedan version of the B10. I've seen both cars, and their front and rear taillights are quite similar. They should be common components, and the overall appearance is quite imposing. The thing I'm most dissatisfied with is the Tesla - like hidden door handles. It's quite troublesome to open the door every time. You need to press it first and then pull, which is not as convenient as the electric door handles on the new C10. Moreover, there's a risk of getting your fingers pinched. I wonder if there will be modification parts in the future.
2?? What attracted me most about the interior is the expandable compartments in front of the passenger seat. There were dolls on display in the store, which looked really cute. But I don't know why the small table on the B10 is gone. That small table was quite useful, while the dolls are just decorations. However, the workmanship of the small table on the B10 had some issues, and it was not convenient to fold. I asked the salesperson at that time whether the small table here would affect the deployment of the airbag in case of a collision, and this concern really bothered me. There are two colors for the interior: light grey and purple. The light grey looks more imposing, but it's not very suitable for me as I have a child. The purple is relatively more stain - resistant, so I personally recommend choosing the purple interior.
¢Ù Another high - end feature of the interior is the ambient light connected to the air - conditioning vents. It often looks really nice and has a good texture, but at night and on rainy days, it reflects light, and the reflection goes directly onto the rear - view mirror. I have to turn it off to see the rear - view mirror clearly. There's no separate setting to turn off the ambient light; it's either all on or all off, which is a bit less user - friendly.
¢Ú My biggest dissatisfaction with the interior is actually the odor. The B01 has the strongest odor among the B10, C10, and C16. I have rhinitis, and as soon as I got in, I could clearly smell the odor and even sneezed twice. I can only keep the windows open more often. I wonder if it will improve after sunning it later.
3?? Space: There's one drawback and one highlight in terms of space.
The drawback is that there's no storage space in the front engine compartment, and it uses a manual hydraulic strut. Maybe they don't want people to use the front storage space, but there's a large empty area inside. There are also modification parts on third - party platforms. Installing one later to store things like windshield washer fluid and an air pump would be okay.
? Highlight: It's not really that outstanding. Compared with the Mona 03, its rear - seat space, especially the headroom, is actually okay. It just doesn't make your head touch the roof, and there's no ceiling sunroof, so it's not too sunny. I think the legroom is about the same as the Mona 03, with no essential difference, about three or four fingers around. There's a small highlight in the back, which is a dedicated tissue box. I think it's a necessity. Every time I take my family out, we need tissues. Otherwise, it's inconvenient to put them on the seat and reach for them.
¡ð The trunk space is just about enough. The good thing is that there's a large hollow area underneath, which can fit a relatively big backpack. It's a bit of a stretch to fit a 20 - inch suitcase. What's uncomfortable is that the electric switch lever of the trunk is directly exposed, which looks a bit odd.
3?? Driving experience: The overall feeling is between the Seal 06 and the Mona 03. The power is a highlight, while the brakes are a drawback.
¢Ù Steering: The B01 has three steering modes: Comfort, Standard, and Sport. Based on my experience, the Comfort or Standard mode is fine. In Comfort mode, the car feels quite light to drive, like a small car. But it can't be paired with the Sport or Standard power mode, otherwise, it will feel a bit unstable at high speeds. In Standard mode, the steering wheel is a bit heavier and more stable. The steering wheel will get lighter when the speed exceeds 20 mph, and this mode is more stable on rainy days. In Sport mode, it's a bit strenuous to turn the steering wheel with one hand at low speeds.
¢Ú Power: The power is really good, even a bit excessive. There are also three power modes: Comfort, Sport, and Standard. The Standard mode is already quite sporty, which feels very similar to the B10. I suspect it has the same tuning. Slightly pressing the accelerator hard will give a obvious sense of pushing back. The Comfort mode is more suitable for daily driving, with a smoother acceleration, especially when there are family members in the back. In Sport mode, a light press on the accelerator will make the car rush forward. If paired with the Comfort steering setting, it can be a bit hard to control, especially on rainy days.
¢Û Brakes: I personally don't like the brakes. When in Comfort power mode, there's an obvious dead zone at the front end when pressing the brakes. The deceleration effect is not strong when you press it, and you need to press it deeper to get obvious braking force, which makes me a bit unconfident.
¢Ü Regenerative braking: In Comfort power mode, when the regenerative braking is set to the lowest level, you can hardly feel the deceleration when you release the accelerator, and the car can coast for a long distance. After adjusting it to the medium level, there will be a bit of braking force, especially obvious when the Standard or Sport acceleration mode is on. Strong regenerative braking is suitable for the Sport acceleration mode, which can make up for the lack of confidence in braking to a certain extent. Releasing the accelerator will result in obvious deceleration, but it will make the rear - seat passengers uncomfortable, especially if you press the accelerator again at that time.
¢Ý Chassis: The chassis is better than that of the Mona 03. When passing over relatively deep manhole covers, the rear shock absorption filters more smoothly, and the left - right sway is not strong. However, the B01 has more roll than I expected when taking a wide turn, especially when there's a bit of speed, which makes me feel unconfident. When passing over a relatively deep road surface at a higher speed, the rear suspension bounces a bit, and the overall stability is not as good as the Seal 06 EV I test - drove last time.
Energy consumption: It mainly depends on how aggressively you drive. I drove a short non - aggressive urban road at that time, and it showed 13.4 kWh, which is acceptable.
Review B
Exterior: I'm an old owner of the T03. I got to know about the Leapmotor B01 when I went to the 4S shop for car maintenance. I was immediately attracted by the car's appearance. Then, while my car was being serviced, I had a good static experience of the B01. After that try, I couldn't stop thinking about this car. So I started frantically looking up relevant information online and confirming the listing time, test - drive time, and estimated price with the salesperson.
Interior: I chose the bamboo - fiber gray interior, which looks very high - end. I was worried that white would get dirty easily, but in the end, I gave in to its good looks. When I got the actual car, it was really beautiful, and the areas that are frequently touched are all covered with soft materials.
Space: I'm 185 cm tall. When I adjust the driver's seat to a comfortable position for me, there's still plenty of room in the back row for people under 170 cm. But for taller people, it won't work; they'll feel cramped.
Configuration: For this price, the hardware configuration is really top - notch. The B01 has what other cars have, and it also has something that other cars don't (lidar). I have to give it a thumbs up for this.
Driving feel: With a rear - mounted motor of 160 kW, the power is more than enough. The steering wheel is relatively small and very light, which is very friendly to female drivers.
Range & consumption: Since I picked up the car in Shanghai, I drove back to my hometown on the highway on the same day. The temperature on the road was 24¡ãC, the fan was on the second gear, and I was driving at about 110 - 120 km/h. When I checked, it basically showed that there was about 60% of the battery left. I guess the dynamic range is about 400 km. I'll test it on urban roads later.
Driver assistance: I used the LCC function on the highway. It's very practical and can relieve the driver's fatigue to a large extent. However, you have to hold the steering wheel all the time because it's just an assistance system.
Smart cockpit: The driver's seat of this car is equipped with seat ventilation, heating, and six - way adjustment. It's a pity that the front passenger seat doesn't have six - way adjustment and ventilation. Logically, these should all be included in the top - of - the - line model. It's a bit of a letdown.
Overall: Generally speaking, this car uses high - quality materials in this price range and has a very high cost - performance ratio. Since I just picked up the car, I need more time to discover its advantages and disadvantages.
Review C
[Advantages and Disadvantages of Using the Car]
1. Driving Experience:
"Advantages": It has fast acceleration and all the driving assistance alerts. It's very user - friendly for a newbie like me. It also has automatic parking and highway pilot functions. I've driven nearly 200 km, and as a driver, the experience has been quite good.
"Disadvantages": Sometimes, when I gently press the brake, the car surges forward. The automatic parking function can't recognize unmarked parking spaces. The passenger in the front seat often feels dizzy. The kinetic energy recovery system of Leapmotor can't be turned off, which makes people prone to motion sickness.
2. Intelligent Cockpit:
"Advantages": It supports remote control, NFC unlocking, seat ventilation and heating. The air - conditioning is very powerful. The in - car infotainment system is smooth, with reasonable functions. Many functions are quite streamlined and easy to use.
"Disadvantages": The in - car infotainment system App doesn't synchronize in time. There are many minor issues, such as the App inexplicably notifying me that the car door isn't closed, and the vehicle status not refreshing automatically, as shown in the picture. The air - conditioning compressor is noisy, and the rapid cooling mode has a significant gap compared with some fuel - powered vehicles. The sentry mode doesn't work well. I can't see the video. I'm not sure if it's ineffective or has too low sensitivity.
3. Other problems include:
The workmanship of the trunk's upper cover is rather rough, with exposed wires, which affects the overall appearance.
The front hood is designed to be too empty, and the dripping water directly falls onto the lower protection plate.
The App can't monitor real - time images (maybe due to data usage concerns), and the in - car data package is only 4G.
The new car has a very strong odor. Although it's claimed to be formaldehyde - free, the unpleasant smell is extremely heavy. It still smells bad even after being exposed to the sun for several days.
