Review A
¡¾Range and Energy Consumption¡¿
Urban electricity consumption: 13-15 kWh/100km. The highest I've had is 16, the lowest is 12.5.
Highway electricity consumption: 17-19 kWh/100km. The highest is 20, the lowest is 17.
Urban fuel consumption: 5.7 L/100km, highway fuel consumption: 6.5 L/100km. My highway driving is mostly on flat terrain, so these figures are quite accurate. As long as the battery is above 50% and you don't exceed 120 km/h, it's basically around 6 L/100km. For a car over 2 tons, I think this fuel consumption is acceptable.
¡¾ADAS¡¿
The highway intelligent driving is relatively conservative. When there are vehicles ahead, it will decelerate first to confirm the environment before changing lanes to overtake. I basically only use intelligent driving when there are few cars to relax my body, but driving manually is still more comfortable, especially with the double wishbone suspension, five-link rear suspension, and rear-wheel drive. Entirely relying on intelligent driving would be a waste of its potential. That might be why many cars with good intelligent driving have softer chassis ¨C soft chassis are comfortable for riding but not as enjoyable for driving.
¡¾Charging Time¡¿
The maximum charging power is 110 kW, which is quite high for an extended-range hybrid. My colleague's Seal 07 DM-i only has around 40 kW. Normally, it can maintain 80-90 kW of power before reaching 70% battery. When²¹µç on the highway, it can charge 18 kWh in 15 minutes, which is enough for about 100 km.
Overall, charging from 12% to 95% takes about 35 minutes, and the final 5% (trickle charge) takes 15 minutes, totaling around 50 minutes. If there are other cars sharing the charger, it might take a bit over an hour.
¡¾Intelligent Cockpit¡¿
What I really love is the Nap Mode. When at a charging station, I can activate it, lie down, browse my phone, and get a massage while waiting for the battery to charge. Once during heavy rain on the highway, I stopped at a service area and slept for an hour. It was pouring outside, but the car was very quiet, and the sleep quality was excellent.
Also, the new car smell is really minimal. There was a slight new car odor when I picked it up, but after driving it for 2 weeks and leaving it parked outside in the sun for two days (exposed to high temperatures), I never smelled it again.
¡¾Space Performance¡¿
The 3-meter wheelbase speaks for itself, but if you want the rear passengers to sit comfortably, I suggest adjusting the front seats to the highest position. This way, rear passengers can stretch their feet under the front seats, making the seating posture similar to that of a fuel car, which is more comfortable.
¡¾Maintenance¡¿
First maintenance is coming up soon. I'll share after that. The service at our local 4S shop is decent.

¡¾Space Performance¡¿
As a sedan, the Star Era ES has quite good space performance. The only regret is that the trunk is a bit small, but that's unavoidable with the fastback design! After all, you can't have your cake and eat it too; if you want it to look good, there's no other way! The car is relatively long and wide, so it's not easy to park in smaller parking spaces outside. Mainly, my driving skills are just average!
¡¾Range and Energy Consumption¡¿
I bought the extended-range Pro version! Over the past month, I've been using the pure electric priority mode for commuting. I charge it once a week, and I haven't tried filling up the tank for long trips yet!
¡¾Driver Assistance¡¿
I bought the version with high-speed intelligent driving, but there's no urban intelligent driving. The high-speed performance is really average. Since I bought it, the system has been upgraded twice. I've used the high-speed intelligent driving a few times, and when encountering road construction or road cones, it keeps asking to take over. It feels a bit timid!
¡¾Charging Time¡¿
The charging time is quite acceptable. With 20kW, it's fully charged in half an hour! Not bad. There's a charging pile at the company, and it usually takes a little over an hour to fully charge! The performance is okay!
¡¾Maintenance Cost¡¿
I've read everyone's chats in the car group, and generally, the maintenance costs after a traffic accident are quite high! Try to drive carefully! Reduce problems!
¡¾Exterior¡¿
The exterior of the Star Era ES is one of the better-looking models among Chery's lineup over the years! I personally like it very much! It's sporty yet atmospheric! Very nice, and I really like it!
¡¾Most Dissatisfying Aspects¡¿
Finally, let's talk about the most dissatisfying aspects of this car. There are no physical buttons inside the car; air conditioning and other functions basically rely on voice control. Fortunately, it's equipped with the 8295 chip! The voice control is still very good! The glove box can only be opened via the central control screen or voice control! This doesn't feel good. At least install a mechanical button!
Also, the camera for face recognition and detection gets very hot. Even when the function is turned off normally, it still heats up a lot! I don't know why!
Moreover, many sports kits came out shortly after I picked up the car! Especially the tree branch wheels! Electric rear wing! Those who have already picked up their cars can't choose them anymore! Very annoying! Many old owners are very dissatisfied, and the group is discussing it every day. The car is very good, but the sales can't pick up, mainly because most 4S stores have poor service! Hope it gets improved as soon as possible!
Overall, the car is still good! I'll come back to share my driving experience after using it for a while!

¡¾Riding Experience¡¿
I got the High-Speed Intelligent Driving version. The front seats have ventilation, massage, and heating functions. Hangzhou's summer is extremely hot, so seat ventilation is essential. However, there's a drawback that must be mentioned: the ES's seat memory has a bug. Sometimes it can't restore the original memory position in one go; I have to open and then close the door for it to return to the memorized position.
¡¾Space Performance¡¿
The Star Era ES is nearly 5 meters long, so the space performance is quite good, with plenty of room in the back row. But hardly anyone has ever sat in my back row, what a pity, haha.
¡¾Range¡¿
Officially advertised range on full charge is 255km CLTC, 205km WLTC, and 1645km with full charge and full fuel. Actually, it definitely can't run that much. My daily commute to and from work is about 60 kilometers, and I need to charge it every 2-3 days. With air conditioning, navigation, and music on, it should be able to reach 170km on pure electric power without any problem.
¡¾Electricity Consumption & Fuel Consumption¡¿
My normal daily commute is about 60km, with an average electricity consumption of around 15kW. After using the car for more than three months, I have added almost two tanks of fuel. In July, I went back to my hometown, a round trip of 1600km. On the highway, at speeds of 100-120km/h without power loss, the average fuel consumption was 3L; with power loss, the fuel consumption was about 7-8L.
¡¾Service Experience¡¿
The first maintenance is at 5000km. Because I went back to my hometown, I quickly reached 5000km, and the first maintenance was done around mid-August. The after-sales staff at EXEED Auto Hangzhou Bai'ao Flagship Store directly arranged a chauffeur to pick up the car from my home, and after the maintenance, they arranged a chauffeur to send it back. It didn'tµ¢Îó my work time at all, truly a five-star rating. The corresponding salesperson was also very nice when I bought the car. Thumbs up for Hangzhou Bai'ao Store.
¡¾Intelligent Driving¡¿
The intelligent driving of the high-speed version can only be used when there are very few cars. The computing power is low. Never trust intelligent driving when there are many cars. I almost had two collisions on the viaduct. Since then, I don't use intelligent driving when there are even a few more cars.
¡¾Complaints¡¿
I might have initially bought the car for its appearance, but after driving it for a few months, I found there are still some problems. First, the seat memory bug mentioned earlier. Then there's brake noise. I searched and found that regardless of brand, many cars have creaking noises when braking or when releasing the brake pedal. The vehicle camera sometimes has a delay of a fraction of a second. Because of this delay, I directly backed my rear end into the wall when parking at night; it was so distressing. Also, OTA: why is the OTA so different between the high-speed intelligent driving and urban intelligent driving versions? Does even a navigation optimization have to be divided between high-speed and urban intelligent driving versions? I don't understand.
