Review A
Exterior: Compared with the old model, the biggest upgrade of the new model is that the original pair of moustache-shaped daytime running lights have been changed to through-type daytime running lights. The overall appearance has immediately improved a lot, which is also an important reason for me to decide to choose this car! In addition, a small ducktail spoiler has been added to the overly "round" rear of the old model, making it instantly much cooler. The styling of the whole car paired with the large black wheels is really cool.
Interior: It's simple and elegant. All the places that can be reached by hand are covered. For this price range, it's qualified. The only thing to complain about is that there's no glove box. It's not that the glove box is small; it's just completely removed! I'm really not used to this at present.
Space: The seating space is good and quite roomy. The only slight dissatisfaction is the trunk space. It would be perfect if it could be a bit bigger!
Driving experience: I'm a complete petrol-to-electric driver. I've driven Japanese cars for more than a decade. After switching to the new G6, the improvement in power response is simply a qualitative leap! To sum it up in one word, it's "awesome"!
Driver assistance: XPeng's XNGP is more stable and more useful on highways than on urban roads. If the urban intelligent driving can optimize minor problems like lane drifting to the right and frequent lane changes, it will also be great. In comparison, the automatic parking function is really amazing! Currently, unless the parking environment is extremely bad, I'll always let Xiaopeng (Xiao P) handle the automatic parking.
Range & energy consumption: Based on my current usage, it's completely no problem to run over 400 km on a full charge. However, I have to complain that the Sentry Mode does consume a lot of power. I hope it can be continuously optimized.
Review B
I've picked up my G6 Black Warrior! It drives really well and I'm quite satisfied. From the time I started planning to buy a car to finally picking it up, it's been almost exactly half a year. During this process, I've made a lot of efforts, going from a newbie who could only recognize a few car logos to a qualified car owner with basic automotive knowledge. At first, I had my eye on the Lynk & Co Z20, but unfortunately, it's too small and its intelligence features are just average. Later, I also looked at cars like the Geely Galaxy E5 and Leapmotor C11, but they seemed to be lacking in terms of intelligent features and comfort experience. I first saw the G6 in a store in the mall around November last year. Initially, I didn't consider XPeng because I thought it was way over my budget. But after chatting with the salesperson in the store, I found it was much better than I expected. However, at that time, I felt that the interior of the 2024 model was too plain and hard, and the intelligent driving system on the lower - end models was not fully developed. Later, when I searched the news, I found out that there would be a facelifted version, and the improvements were on intelligent driving, interior, exterior, and chassis, all of which are the points I care about. After the facelift, it's basically the car I've been dreaming of, so I just waited for its official release.
The above is my feeling two days after picking up the car. Now, I've been driving it for a month and have traveled over 1,800 kilometers. I'm writing more details here to give you more references.
The G6 itself is easy to drive, but don't expect an ultimate driving experience. When passing through narrow roads or meeting other cars, the 360 - degree camera is the most commonly used feature. It generally works well, but at night, the clarity and resolution drop significantly. The intelligent driving system is very useful on highways and elevated roads, and it also works well in urban traffic jams. In other situations, it can be used, but you need to assess the situation yourself. There have also been a few times when it behaved "crazy", which I think is probably due to the lack of high - precision map support and insufficient understanding of road conditions. In urban areas, the driver needs to keep a close eye on the road when using the intelligent driving system. The automatic parking function works okay, but the recognition rate of parking spaces is too low, so low that it's almost useless. Currently, it's really a pain to use, and they say the next version will support marked parking spaces. The biggest complaint is about the air - conditioner. I understand that XPeng changed the electric adjustment to manual to save costs, and I actually think the manual adjustment is fine. But the main problem is that there are 10 levels of wind speed, and once it goes above level 5, the noise becomes very obvious. When it reaches above level 8, you can hardly hear others talking in the car. Also, my partner complains that it's too cold when the air - conditioner blows directly. After closing the central air - duct, it doesn't seal properly and still leaks air. The cooling efficiency of the air - conditioner is okay, but the glass sunroof can't block heat. When the sun shines on it, it gets extremely hot inside the car, which wastes a lot of air - conditioning. I put a film on the sunroof, which helps with shading a lot, but the heat insulation is still not good, so I'll just have to live with it.
In conclusion, I'm quite satisfied with the G6 overall. I'm most satisfied with its space, charging, intelligent driving, and intelligent features. The energy consumption is better than I expected and is acceptable. The things I'm not satisfied with are the air - conditioner and the glass sunroof. The chassis shock absorption can only be considered just passable. Considering the price, I'd give this car an 85 - point score. In addition, for my Black Warrior, I'll add a little emotional bonus and give it an 89 - point score.
Review C
I'm 33 years old this year. I'm an e-commerce professional and also a car enthusiast. My preference for driving leans more towards the popular style, which means I focus on the car's sound insulation, shock absorption, and sound system quality. I don't have high requirements for handling. After all, I rarely drive fast or race. The XPeng G6 is the seventh car in my life. From the first Changan CS75 (2015) - Mercedes-Benz C (2017) - BMW 5 Series (2019) - Volvo S90 (bought in 2021 and given to my girlfriend) - BMW 7 Series (2021) - XPeng P5 (2022) - XPeng G6 (2023), I've driven each car for a long time and in - depth. Now, I'd like to share with you my most authentic driving and riding experiences. First, from the Changan CS75 to the Mercedes - Benz C, then to the BMW 5 Series and finally the BMW 7 Series, every time I changed a car, the sound insulation and shock absorption took a new step up. It was indeed much more comfortable to drive than the previous car, and I felt that each car was worth the money. The Volvo S90 is a car with luxurious materials, but unfortunately, its sound insulation and shock absorption are worse than those of the BMW 5 Series. This is one of the important reasons for its poor sales. In 2022, I often had to take long - distance trips. Then I saw XPeng's autonomous driving technology. The P5 was the first mass - produced car equipped with a lidar, so I bought it. However, once I experienced the autonomous driving of the XPeng P5, I couldn't go back. Driving 400 km on a long - distance trip with the XPeng P5 was not tiring at all, but driving the 7 Series on a long - distance trip almost exhausted me. This is how technology changes life. I have to admire the power of technology. XPeng's autonomous driving is really useful on the highway.
Driving experience of the XPeng P5:
Let me talk about the driving experience of the XPeng P5. In the city, its acceleration is faster than that of my BMW 7 Series, which has an acceleration of 6 seconds. Especially when starting, it zooms off. Moreover, there is no jerks during the driving process. The P5 amazed me in terms of acceleration and intelligence, but I was extremely disappointed with its sound insulation. I've never driven a car with such poor sound insulation. It feels even worse than the sound insulation of my first Changan CS75. I'm so disappointed. The shock absorption is okay, but the handling is as bad as that of the CS75. There is obvious roll when turning quickly. I waited until the G6 came out, and I immediately exchanged my P5 for a G6.
Comparison of popular electric cars:
I've test - driven almost all the popular electric cars in the 200,000 - 300,000 RMB range. Here's why I chose the G6 instead of the NIO ES6, Li L7, Tesla Model Y, or Zeekr 001. I think in terms of comfort (sound insulation and shock absorption), the ranking should be Li L7 > Zeekr 001 > NIO ES6 > XPeng G6 > Tesla Model Y. Except for the Tesla Model Y, the other cars are very comfortable, and the differences are not very large. The NIO ES6 has too high power consumption. It can only travel about 400 km on a full charge, which is much lower than that of the XPeng G6, so I passed on it. The Li L7 is very comfortable, but unfortunately, it's not a pure - electric vehicle, so I passed on it. The Tesla Model Y has too much tire noise, the shock absorption is too hard, the range is not as long as that of the G6, and the charging speed is not as fast as that of the G6, so I passed on it. The Zeekr 001 is too wide and difficult to park. It's a bit low, and the headroom is not large enough. Most importantly, its charging speed is not as fast as that of the G6, and its autonomous driving on long - distance trips is not as good as that of the G6. There is also another competitor, the XPeng G9. Unfortunately, the space design of the G9 is not very reasonable. Even for someone like me with a height of 176 cm, I can't fully straighten my legs when sitting in the driver's seat. The rear - seat space is relatively small, and the most fatal thing is that the seats can't be laid flat completely. I can't even quickly lay a sponge mat to sleep.
Driving experience of the XPeng G6:
The driving experience of changing from the P5 to the G6 is simply worlds apart. The sound insulation, handling, and shock absorption of the XPeng G6 are comparable to those of the BMW 5 Series. It's a very comfortable and easy - to - drive car. Another very important advantage is that its charging speed is really, really fast. There's no range anxiety at all. The 755 - km range can last for a long time. Even when it runs out of power, it can reach 80% charge in basically 20 minutes. I've actually tested it. The 755 Max version can travel about 630 km in the city on a full charge and about 550 km at a speed of 120 km/h on the highway. The range is very reliable.
Sound system experience of the XPeng G6:
The XPeng G6 has 18 speakers and a 900 - watt power. Its inherent quality is very strong, but unfortunately, the tuning is a bit lacking. In my mind, the ranking is: Tesla Model Y > Li L7 > NIO ES6 > XPeng G6 > Zeekr 001's original sound system > BMW 5 Series' original sound system > Mercedes - Benz E - Class' original sound system (Of course, if Zeekr, BMW, and Mercedes - Benz choose to install upgraded sound systems, the effect will be greatly improved and will be comparable to that of the Tesla Model Y). Although the sound system of the XPeng G6 can't be said to be very good, it's definitely sufficient. The effect is still good for daily music listening.
Summary of the advantages of the XPeng G6:
Advantage 1: The 800V charging is very fast. It can be fully charged in basically 30 minutes, while most electric cars take an hour to fully charge.
Advantage 2: The space is extremely large. The spaciousness inside the G6 feels even more expansive than that of the BMW 7 Series. The headroom is huge, and it's not at all oppressive. Moreover, the rear seats can be laid flat for sleeping.
Advantage 3: The sound insulation, handling, and shock absorption are all very good. They're not much different from those of the BMW 5 Series and Mercedes - Benz E - Class, but the driving experience is better.
Advantage 4: The autonomous assisted driving is really, really useful. If you often take long - distance trips, turning on the autonomous assisted driving is like sitting in the passenger seat. You won't feel tired at all. Once you've used it, you won't want to go back.
Advantage 5: It has the inherent advantage of electric cars. Usually, when you stay in the car, turn on the air - conditioner, play with your phone, rest, or wait for someone, it doesn't consume any fuel because it uses electricity. Moreover, the XPeng G6 uses a Midea 800V air - conditioner, which is really power - saving.
Advantage 6: The power consumption is extremely low, with an average of 13 kWh. It's more power - saving than other cars in the same class. Lower power consumption naturally means cheaper electricity bills. So this car is really cost - effective. The electricity cost per kilometer is only 0.1 yuan. Compared with fuel - powered cars, it can save a lot of money. The current economic environment is not very good, so we should save whenever we can.
Finally, I hope that Chinese domestic cars can get better and better, go global, and bring glory to our country.
