Initial Experience with the New Mocha After Two Weeks and 500 Kilometers
It has been two weeks since I picked up the car on July 10th, and I have gone from being cautious at the beginning to getting better at driving it now. Overall, it can be summarized with a few two-character words: brisk, intelligent, quiet, solid, practical, and fuel-efficient.
Brisk and Abundant Power
The new Mocha is a plug-in hybrid vehicle with a pure electric range of 175 kilometers. Daily driving can be done using electricity. The accelerator response is very fast with no delay, and overtaking is a piece of cake. I often feel that the speed has already reached 80+ without pressing the accelerator much. Once, when the electricity ran out, I tried driving with fuel, and the power was still abundant. Moreover, there was no jerking when switching between fuel and electricity; you basically don't feel the switch unless you pay close attention. It supports switching between three power modes and four driving modes, providing more driving experiences. All in all, the new Mocha's 1.5T + motor + two-speed transmission power system will not make anyone dissatisfied with the power!
Intelligent and Convenient System
The new Mocha's infotainment system and a series of safety configurations are very intelligent and convenient. The infotainment system uses Great Wall's self-developed coffee OS2 system, which can realize convenient settings for the vehicle through one sentence with ten commands. Such as window lifting, music playing, seat adjustment, ambient lights, navigation, air conditioning, etc., can all be controlled by voice. The safety configurations are also very intelligent. Full-speed adaptive cruise control can freely set the following distance. Active braking can also protect safety at critical moments. On the day I just picked up the car, I was reversing on the roadside and didn't notice an electric bike passing横向 behind. The car sensed it and automatically braked to a stop, avoiding my new car from being damaged...
Quiet and Comfortable Riding Experience
The whole car has double-layer sound insulation, paired with active noise cancellation for the driver and front passenger. This makes the sound insulation effect of the entire car reach a cross-level existence. The feeling is most obvious the moment the car windows are closed. The seats are wide and soft with good wrapping. The front driver and passenger seats are equipped with ventilation and massage functions, which beat any brand's cars of the same level in terms of comfort. The air purifier can keep the air in the car fresh at all times. When driving at night, if I smoke a cigarette in the car, the air index directly爆表, the air purifier automatically turns on, and the index drops soon after extinguishing the cigarette. I asked my family who got in the car later, and none of them smelled the cigarette smoke in the car. I have to say that the effect and efficiency of the air purification are good.
Solid and Stable Chassis
I don't know much about the chassis, so I can only talk about my actual experience and comparison with other models. Before test-driving the Mocha, I went to test-drive the Tang. It felt good on flat roads, but on bumpy roads, it was like driving a boat. Even I, as a driver, felt a little motion sick, which is why the Tang was directly rejected. The Mocha doesn't have this feeling at all. The body, which is even bigger than the Tang, is solid, and the chassis feels like a whole without looseness. The entire body posture is very integrated and stable during sudden stops and急刹, which shows Great Wall's technical content in the SUV field. The following picture is not malicious towards a certain brand, haha.
Practical and Spacious Interior
After all, the size and wheelbase of this car are there. Whether it's the front row, the back row, or the trunk, the space is very ample. It is a standard large five-seat SUV. There is a lot of storage space in the front row, such as the armrest box, glove box, space under the center console, cup holders, wireless charger, etc., which are definitely sufficient for daily use. I want to specifically mention the back row. Many five-seat cars have看似 large rear space but actually sacrifice the length of the rear seats, making them uncomfortable to sit on. But the Mocha does not have this problem. The rear seats are long and provide good support for the legs, and the legroom is also sufficient. The backrest also supports two-level adjustment, further improving the riding experience in the back row. For a family car, comfortable rear seats are what really matter!
Economical and Fuel-Efficient Energy Consumption Control
Because the Mocha's pure electric range reaches 175 kilometers, basically, travel in the urban area and between surrounding cities is mainly by pure electricity. For these 500 kilometers, I added 200 yuan of fuel when I picked up the car, and now there may still be 180 yuan worth of fuel left? I basically haven't used it. For a plug-in hybrid car, using even a drop of fuel feels like a sin, haha! Now I have installed a charging pile. Each kilowatt-hour of electricity costs 0.44 yuan, and it only costs 15 yuan to fully charge, which can run 175 kilometers, less than 0.1 yuan per kilometer... Coupled with the lifetime maintenance provided when buying the car, what else can be said about the cost of owning this car.
After talking about the advantages, let's talk about a few unsatisfactory aspects. For example, there is always a "gēng gēng" sound after powering on. The 4S shop said it's the sound of the battery management system. Can this be solved in later system upgrades? Also, there are few infotainment system applications. It can try to be open-source to stimulate the development ability of car friends; and a sentry mode needs to be developed. After all, the hardware can meet the requirements, it's just a software issue. I don't have any other dissatisfaction for the time being.
So far, I have driven almost all 500 kilometers. My wife has driven it twice. The column-mounted gear shift is easy to get used to. She said that the car looks big from the outside but is actually very easy to drive. I think this is the car-making ability of an excellent car company.
Review B
The car drives with great quality. I used to drive an old Audi, and the chassis and power feel no less than a fuel-powered car. The range is quite accurate—175 kilometers in the city is no problem at all. On the highway, in hybrid mode, the power keeps coming as long as you step on the accelerator. Also, a complaint about the smart driving: it's easy to get sleepy on the highway, so I don't use it often. Better to rely on yourself on the highway. Disadvantages: too few free gifts, no slow charging gun provided, and the license plate fee wasn't saved either. But when I bought the car, I was waiting to grab the local consumption voucher. Purchase experience: At first, I was obsessed with fuel-powered cars, and my favorite was the Volvo XC60. I followed it for half a year, but the price was very firm and the sound insulation was really not good. I also test-drove the Buick Envision Plus; the car was quite imposing and had good looks, but my partner wanted to check out new energy vehicles, which have lower long-term usage costs. Then I went to test the BYD Frigate and Tang; they were good, but I didn't like the interior. I was basically about to order one when the Mocha came out. I fell in love with its appearance at first sight. The interior isn't exactly luxurious but is rather simple, and the range is higher for the same price. Buying a car depends on your own needs; no need to pay special attention to sales rankings. Plus, my partner was very satisfied, so I decided to order it. I visited 4 local 4S stores and finally chose the one with the government coupon, and got it done in 2 hours. The most unsatisfactory thing is the infotainment system!! There were several times I couldn't help scolding "Little Wey"; it can't recognize voice content, and doesn't exit automatically after completing a voice command. Hope it gets updated soon; it's frustrating to have 8155 hardware perform like this. Finally, I chose silver exterior and black interior. Blue and black was my initial choice, but later I thought black interior was clean and nice. Now every time I park, I can't help but look back at my Mocha and默念 in my heart: Damn, it's so handsome🤩
Review C
I have been following Great Wall Motors' WEY brand since the VV7 model, attracted by its exterior design and exquisite interior. After learning more about it, I became even more认可 due to its safety features, although the older models had high prices and low sales. When I decided to change my car this year, I test-drove the Buick E5, BYD Tang DM-i, BYD Han DM-i, and Xpeng P7 successively. Based on the test drive experience, I gave up on BYD because of the suspension; most new势力 models are OEM-produced, which made me somewhat uneasy, so I finally placed an order for the Buick E5. While waiting for the car, I suddenly noticed the launch of the new Mocha PHEV. Its appearance, interior, and price were all very attractive, and I was instantly tempted. Since the range of the E5 had always been a hidden concern, I ultimately decided to switch my order to the new Mocha PHEV.
I picked up the car on June 7th and have been driving it for a week now, covering approximately 500 kilometers, mainly in urban areas and on elevated roads, not yet on the highway. The specific feelings are as follows: the Lijiang Blue exterior is very good-looking, and it looks even better in the sunlight; the black-brown interior is elegant and dirt-resistant, and the sound insulation is excellent; the chassis is solid, and the suspension is moderately soft and hard; the space is large, the seats are comfortable, and my family is very satisfied with the ride; the adaptive cruise control is very useful, allowing for stop-and-go functionality, which is practical in congested road sections; I used the intelligent assisted driving once on the elevated road. I was a bit nervous the first time using it, but overall, it felt good. It could brake in time when a car cut in front, and there is still room for improvement in the response and timing of automatic lane changes; the sound system效果 is good but needs to be turned up a bit to be noticeable; the in-car storage space is large, which is worth praising; the trunk is not that big due to the溜背 design, but it is sufficient for use; the acceleration is brisk when there is electricity, and slightly less so when there is no electricity, but it is fast enough for family use. Acceleration that meets daily needs is sufficient; power like that which can break 100km/h in less than 5 seconds is actually not needed for family use, as it can make people dizzy; the electricity consumption and fuel consumption are not much different from the official宣传 and are relatively真实, but this also has a lot to do with driving habits.
