BAIC Beijing X7

I purchased the BAIC Beijing X7 on May 5th, and both my wife and I have been driving it. The acceleration is adequate for daily use, not too fast but not slow either. The space is really comfortable, especially with the massage function, making it feel quite premium. The exterior is very attractive, often mistaken for an electric vehicle though it's a fuel car. The infotainment system is smooth, much better than my previous Changan 35P. The most practical features are the heated and ventilated seats. For fuel consumption, on the highway, it showed 6.5 L/100km when my wife drove, and 7.3 L/100km when I drove over 120 km/h; in the city, it's 8.6 L/100km, which is better than my old Changan. The ride is very smooth with no顿挫感, and the suspension is just right—neither too soft nor too hard. The 5-year interest-free financing is great, with fees like GPS removed. So far, after over 1,000 km, everything is normal, and I haven't had battery issues as some mentioned. Choosing the new X7 was definitely the right decision.

The BAIC Beijing X7 features an East Asian-inspired front design with a Kirin-style grille and headlights symbolizing Kirin. It has keyless entry with pop-out hidden door handles, a two-tone color scheme with a glossy black roof, eco-friendly water-based paint from BASF and Nippon, and 20-inch tires. The exterior dimensions are 4745mm in length and 1892mm in width. At the rear, there's a贯穿式 taillight with a glowing Beijing logo and quad exhaust pipes. The power tailgate offers ample storage space with 40/60 split-folding seats. Inside, the环抱式 interior has dual 12.3-inch screens and an 8-inch control panel, along with a user-friendly infotainment system including apps like Douyin and Tencent's Ai Qi Ting. The center console features a 7-speed wet dual-clutch gearbox, a minimalist layout, and a spacious double-layered armrest box. All four seats are upholstered in Nappa leather with ventilation, heating, and massage functions. The passenger seat is a "Queen Seat" with an extra-long electric leg rest. The rear offers over one punch of legroom, and the central armrest also has ventilation, heating, and massage. A large panoramic sunroof with a wide opening area completes the package.

First, the drawbacks: the suspension is relatively stiff, providing good stability in corners but producing noticeable noise over bumps. Also, the cup holder inside the armrest box is inconvenient to access while driving.

However, the BAIC Beijing X7 has several strengths. Its exterior is sleek yet understated, especially with the hidden door handles and well-proportioned body, which looks even better with privacy film. The voice control system is highly functional, covering infotainment (e.g., Tencent's AiQiTing), sunroof, seat massage/ventilation, and air conditioning, enhancing driving safety. The power tailgate with multiple opening methods is practical.

Space is ample for family use, with a roomy rear row that satisfies my family. Fuel efficiency is impressive for a gasoline vehicle: averaging 6.4L/100km over 6,400km. Daily commutes (75% expressway, 25% slow roads) yield 5.6-6.2L/100km, dropping to 4.9L at 65km/h. Weekend trips with full passengers and AC reach 7.4-7.8L, while urban congestion with AC and full load pushes it to 8.5-9+L.

Overall, the Beijing X7 offers good value, with a stylish design, spacious interior, solid build, and better-than-expected fuel economy. I recommend it for those considering a gasoline car.
