Review A
Due to license plate restrictions, I had to go for a green plate. My previous car was a 2019 Model X Performance, and it's hard to find an SUV that scores perfect marks in space, visibility, and power like that. But pure electric vehicles are still a bit troublesome for trips, and with all the new EV brands being so popular last year, I started looking again. The options included the Explorer昆仑巅峰, Defender, NIO ES8, Yangwang U8, Tank 500 hi4t, and Bao 5. Last year, I accidentally saw the 50e display car at Baoyuanhang. The salesperson threw me the keys and left to get busy, letting me experience it in depth for a while. I immediately fell in love—it was exactly the car I wanted. First of all, the fact that it's independently developed by the M division gives it high credibility, destined to be unique in the brand's model lineup for a相当 long time, and it's highly unlikely to be facelifted within a few years. The story behind it might not be as attractive as "refrigerators, color TVs, and big sofas," but those who understand know; no need for more words. Exterior: When all cars with the chassis code G0X are newly released, everyone thinks they're ugly. I was also criticizing when the test car spy photos came out initially, but when the actual car finally appeared in front of me, the feeling was completely different. Several distinctive small details are the finishing touches, and the more I look at it, the more I love it. Interior + Configuration: Surprisingly, the 50e has exactly the same interior and configuration as the standard version. All the features that X5/6M and X7 M60 require optional installation come as standard—definitely the king of value for money! I won't list the specific contents one by one. Although new energy vehicles starting at over 200,000 also have ventilation, heating, and massage functions, you'll know the difference once you try them. Chassis + Power: I just picked up the car, so I haven't stepped on it hard. I set it to Hybrid mode, and it's basically driving on pure electric most of the time. Is there a need to complain about the B58? Yes! The B58B30S equipped in the 50e is currently the weakest among all B58 engines, bar none, hahaha! But the addition of the electric motor balances all operating conditions, and now M models generally use ZF 8-speed instead of dual-clutch. Smooth—just one word! However, the chassis is still on the stiff side, with a very premium sporty feel, not like the ultra-luxurious comfort of the i7. By the way, since test drives are free anyway, I suggest everyone go try the i7 to experience the top-tier executive chassis. Space: After all, it has the same wheelbase as the X7 but only 5 seats, and the rear seats are among the most comfortable BMW has ever made (the two small headrests are a plus). In terms of乘坐, it still combines luxury and sportiness. The battery is placed at the bottom of the trunk, so the floor compartment can't be opened, and the loading lip is also relatively high. After all, it's from the M division; those who need it for moving house can give up. Regrets: I originally wanted to talk about shortcomings, but "regrets" feels more appropriate. The pure-blooded M model doesn't come with air suspension or a sunroof. There's no roof rack either, almost giving up the option of camping—when going out, you can only stay in hotels honestly. Finally, the price. The official price just dropped, and I'm the sucker. But money can't buy happiness. My 2019 Model X also started to be exempt from purchase tax the second month after I picked it up, and there was no lifetime free supercharging. That's the price paid for being among the first batch with HW3.0 + Raven suspension. But I still think the price reduction is a good thing; more owners make it more fun. Finally, I wish everyone can pick up their beloved car soon.
Review B
I fell in love with it when I first saw the display car in Sanya at the end of 2022, and after waiting for a year, I finally picked it up. The aggressive and domineering appearance, all of BMW's technologies integrated into one, the huge body, spacious interior space, an almost perfect car, except that it can only get a hybrid green license plate, not a blue one. The power is full, the comprehensive range is also good, full of mpower.
Review C
【Driving Experience】On paved roads, in D挡 (Drive) normal hybrid mode, a hard press on the accelerator delivers rapid and smooth acceleration. The P2 electric motor works in conjunction with the 4.4T twin-turbocharged V8 engine, making the acceleration feel like贴地飞行 (gliding close to the ground), different from pure electric vehicles. When switching to M1 mode, the linear acceleration power bursts earlier and is easily controllable; in M2 mode, the exhaust sound is restless, and the vehicle posture is elegant without obvious jolts. The XM is BMW M Division's first high-performance plug-in hybrid model, equipped with Adaptive M Suspension Professional and Integral Active Steering. It can adjust the body during high-speed cornering to reduce the turning radius, and is fitted with a 48V Active Roll Stabilization system that can compensate for lateral forces and suppress body roll. As a large SUV, the XM still demonstrates the fierce and smooth temperament of the M family on the road. Although the cornering performance could not be fully experienced during the straight-line test drive, its road-racing-like characteristics can already be felt.
【Riding Experience】On unpaved roads, the rear-seat riding experience is surprisingly comfortable. The Adaptive M Suspension Professional handles vibrations well, with minimal vibration transmitted to the rear seats. Although the formation driving speed was not fast, the handling level is very high. However, the headrest has a bulge, making it unstable to rest the head on.
