¡¾Driving Experience¡¿
Since this is my first car and I'm also a novice driver, I can only share some subjective feelings. I usually drive in Comfort + Medium Regenerative Braking mode.
¢Ù Steering: The steering of the E5 is very light and easy for me. There has never been any sense of deviation or non - linearity. It's much more comfortable than the old fuel - powered cars I've driven. At first, I was worried that the steering wheel's shape might make it hard to drive, but it turned out to have no impact. In fact, it feels even better when making turns at low speeds.
¢Ú Accelerator: The accelerator response is very linear, similar to that of a fuel - powered car. As a novice, I don't have the habit of flooring the accelerator. Generally, the car can reach the speed I want as soon as I step on it. I've floored the accelerator a couple of times, and the speed picked up quickly with a strong sense of acceleration. The drawback is that the car seems to lift its front end when starting, which reduces the riding comfort. However, my friend taught me a method: give a little bit of accelerator gently when starting to get the car moving, then release it and step on it again, and the car will start much more smoothly. I don't know if this is a common issue with all electric cars.
¢Û Brakes: When driving with regenerative braking on flat roads, releasing the accelerator a bit will make the car decelerate, but there's a slight delay. It doesn't decelerate immediately as soon as you release the accelerator; it's like there's a half - second delay, similar to the time it takes to move your foot from the accelerator to the brake. So, when I see a brake situation or a red light ahead, I gradually release the accelerator and then give a light tap on the brake, and the car stops smoothly. I usually only switch directly from the accelerator to the brake when making an emergency stop. I've had a few emergency stops, and the car always stopped; there was no situation where it couldn't brake.
¢Ü Power Consumption and Charging: I often let my family members drive my car (it's really economical. As long as the car is available, they won't drive their own cars and will choose this one instead). My family members drive more aggressively, while I drive more gently as a novice. I've driven 2200 km now, with an average power consumption of 13.2, which I'm quite satisfied with. If it were all me driving, I think I could keep it below 13. In the city, it's usually 10 - 11. When driving on the highway at 110 km/h, it's basically over 14. Since I haven't installed a charging pile yet, I basically use the portable charger bought from the official website (officially rated at 3.3 kW), but at several places I've tried, it only charges at around 2.6 kW. I've used fast charging twice since I picked up the car. Once, it charged 23 kWh in 15 minutes. Generally, there shouldn't be any major problems with charging.
¢Ý 360 - degree Camera: Maybe I haven't driven many high - end cars. Some people say the 360 - degree camera is not good, but it's quite clear to me. As a novice who often has to drive through narrow roads, I really can't do without it! However, the visibility at night is indeed a bit low.
¢Þ L2 Intelligent Driving: I've tried ICC twice. I was quite worried at first, but after driving for a while, it's okay, just at an acceptable level. Remember that when you turn on the turn signal while using ICC, you have to control the steering wheel yourself. The ICC will restart after you turn off the turn signal.
¢ß Other ADAS Features: The Lane Departure Warning is very friendly to a novice like me. It will promptly remind me when I cross the lane line. I can choose either the steering wheel vibration or a beeping sound as the reminder method. When the Lane Keeping Assist is on, it feels like it's trying to take over the steering wheel! Especially when overtaking on a national road (of course, you still have control and it can't overpower you), so I think experienced drivers can turn it off. The Lane Change Safety Warning must be kept on. It's really useful. When you turn on the turn signal to change lanes, it will give a good warning if there's a car in the target lane, and it can also help you avoid the blind spot behind the B - pillar (the radar at the rear of the car can detect the rear of the vehicle in the blind spot).
¢à HUD: Although the E5 doesn't have an AR HUD, it's basically sufficient. The displayed information includes lane navigation, vehicle speed, road signs (speed limits, school zones, etc.), and some auxiliary warnings. You can adjust the height and brightness, but you can't customize the content and font size. The brightness will adjust automatically when entering or exiting a tunnel.
¢á Interior and Interior Space: The white interior combined with the original - factory floor mats makes the whole interior look simple, understated, and tasteful (the original - factory floor mats are the best. There are also TPE floor mats on Taobao, but most of them are blow - molded, while the original ones are injection - molded). The marshmallow - like seats are very soft. Most people who have sat in them said they're comfortable. Due to the large center console, the left - right space for the driver and front - passenger seats isn't very generous. I'm 176 cm tall and 70 kg, and I feel okay, but a friend who's 180 cm tall felt a bit cramped. There's no need to mention the rear - seat space. When I sit in the back, there's still about three - fist distance in front of me. This is one of the reasons I bought the E5. The small knob in the middle is simple and practical for adjusting the volume and air - flow. Rotating it directly adjusts the volume, and rotating it after a single click adjusts the air - flow (you can make settings after double - clicking the knob; otherwise, the default function is to change the wallpaper, as shown in the picture below).
¢â Storage Space: The trunk isn't very deep, but fortunately, there's a sunken area. So, it's not easy to fit very large items, but it's sufficient for normal household use and can hold a lot! The two cup holders aren't very big and can only hold regular mineral water bottles. I rarely use the space under the center console as it doesn't seem to be able to hold much. The armrest box isn't very deep. Buying a small partition online will make it more useful (since the E5 doesn't have a sunglasses case, it's convenient to store sunglasses and other items). The small drawer under the rear - seat air - vent can hold about four bottles of mineral water. The drawer under the seat is relatively large and can be used to store children's snacks or other things.
¢٢Ù Tips: When turning on the turn signal when starting, the 360 - degree camera will automatically provide a side - view to effectively avoid blind spots; there are two small fixing buttons on the left and right of the license - plate mounting area at the front, so don't install them wrongly; you can put down the cardboard in the trunk. If you don't need the lower space, doing so can make the upper space larger.
In conclusion, the E5 is a good family car! Welcome everyone to share and discuss any questions!
Review B
It's been over a week since I picked up the car, and I've had a deep experience of various car - using scenarios. At this price point, the cost - effectiveness and overall experience of this car should be quite excellent. It has rich configurations and no particularly major flaws. Here are my specific feelings:
Driving:
1. The brakes are very linear and excellent, but the pedal feel is a bit light and needs some getting used to.
2. Except for a slight delay at the start, the accelerator responds basically immediately, and the power is abundant.
3. The car will skid if you step on the accelerator hard at the start. The test - drive car was the top - spec model with 19 - inch wheels, and it was significantly better.
4. The steering wheel's damping increases significantly with speed. If you accelerate rapidly while changing lanes, the feel of the steering wheel will be a bit strange, a bit like the lane - keeping and self - centering feeling of some models, which is not suitable for overly aggressive driving.
5. The chassis is too soft, with a lot of shaking and bouncing. If you go over a bump a little too fast, the things in the trunk will bounce up. As I said before, it's not suitable for overly aggressive driving. I even felt a bit dizzy at the beginning when I drove it myself. After getting used to it for a while, I think the chassis is okay. At least it's not bumpy, and the shaking subsides relatively quickly.
6. The HUD has a traffic - light countdown function, which is very convenient. I initially thought the HUD clarity was average, but it became very clear after applying a film.
Space and Rest:
1. The space is large and there are many storage spaces. The trunk is a bit short, but there is also space under the partition, and the rear seats can be folded down. I measured it myself. The distance from the edges on both sides of the trunk to the position of the folded - down rear - seat backrest is about 148 cm, and it can reach 185 cm to the front seats (when the front seats are in the normal position).
2. The rear seats don't fold down completely flat; there is a slight angle.
3. For rest, you can fold down the rear seats, then remove the headrests of the front seats and recline the backrests as pillows. You can also keep the rear seats upright, remove the front - seat headrests, and recline the front - seat backrests to connect with the rear seats as a recliner, but the drop from the front - seat backrest to the seat cushion is a bit large.
4. If you want to take a lunch break in the car, you need to turn on the camping mode, especially if you only have a Bluetooth key. Otherwise, the power will cut off, the Bluetooth connection will be lost, and you'll need to unlock the car again through the App.
Energy:
1. The power consumption level is very good. For daily commuting, it's a little over 12 kWh (in energy - saving mode with the air - conditioner at 24 degrees and on the third fan speed). I haven't driven much on the highway yet, so the data isn't accurate. The dashboard shows 17 kWh. Additionally, it's worth mentioning that when the dashboard shows 125 km/h on the highway, the navigation measures 122 km/h, and the average speed shown in the energy - center trip statistics is a bit higher than the dashboard speed (discovered through cruise control), which is not very accurate.
2. Regarding the charging speed, using a NIO super - charging station, the power can be maintained at a little over 100 kW from 30% to 69% of the battery, 87.5 kW from 69% to 80%, 53.3 kW from 80% to 84%, and then it gets slower. It's no problem to charge from 30% to 80% in 20 minutes, which is relatively fast in the 400V system.
3. As for the location of the charging port, as shown in the picture, in fact, most charging piles can be used by backing the car in. So far, I haven't encountered a charging pile that requires driving in head - on.
NVH:
The sound insulation is actually quite good (at least in the front row), exceeding my expectations for single - layer glass. The wind noise is very obvious when driving at 120 km/h on the highway, and the tire noise depends on the road surface. The Atlas tires on the 18 - inch wheels have relatively large overall tire noise, especially on concrete roads.
Audio:
It's unbeatable in the under - 150,000 - yuan price range. It's quite good in the 150,000 - 200,000 - yuan range, but don't even compare it with cars over 200,000 yuan. It's not as good as the Harman Kardon audio system in the Lynk & Co 08.
Infotainment System:
Without a Meizu phone, its performance is okay but not particularly outstanding. It's smooth and doesn't lag, and the voice recognition is fairly accurate, but the connection between some functions could be further optimized. For example, when using the in - car Gaode Map to search for charging stations, it can't correctly display the occupation status of the charging piles, but the phone version can. I suggest the manufacturer take care of non - Meizu car owners and support software like CarLink and CarPlay.
Review C
¡¾Driving Experience¡¿
It feels quite brisk to drive. The electric vehicle accelerates very quickly too. I think it's easier to drive than a fuel-powered vehicle and it's very relaxing. However, I do feel a bit carsick, and the strong smell of the new car exacerbates this feeling. The smell still hasn't completely dissipated yet.
¡¾Endurance¡¿
Since I've only driven about 400 kilometers so far, I don't have a deep understanding of the endurance. When fully charged, the dynamic endurance display shows only 467 kilometers. After I drove 40 kilometers, it showed that 50 kilometers of power had been consumed, with an achievement rate of about 80%. As I mostly drive in the urban-rural fringe area, mainly on township roads and at a relatively high speed, I set the kinetic energy recovery to low. The average power consumption per 100 kilometers is around 13 kWh, which I think is okay.
¡¾Highlight Configurations¡¿
I think the car's audio system is one of the highlights. The whole vehicle is equipped with 16 speakers, and the effect is quite good. It feels especially nice when I'm driving and listening to music by myself. Another thing is that the car's infotainment system is from Meizu and it responds very sensitively to consecutive commands.
¡¾Most Dissatisfied¡¿
The smell of the new car is a bit strong, and the wind noise is also quite obvious. It can't connect to both Huawei and Apple phones simultaneously.
