Review A
¡¾Optional Configuration¡¿At that time, the only option for the in - stock car was the Max model. I chose the titanium - metal color, which is steady and imposing. Thanks to the thicker tire sidewalls of the Yu7, the 20 - inch wheels look very large on the Yu7, even larger than those on the Su7.
¡¾Range¡¿It's been 5 days since I picked up the car, and the total mileage is 414 kilometers. Last weekend, I drove from Shanghai to Suzhou and back, a round - trip of 170 kilometers, including 20 kilometers on urban roads and 65 kilometers on the highway. The energy consumption is 16.8 kWh/100 km. I turned on the air - conditioner quite strongly in summer, and the power consumption for temperature control accounts for about 12%, while the driving power accounts for 82%. The range achievement rate is still over 85%. I had 380 kilometers of range before driving there and 178 kilometers left after driving back. Check out the picture for the charging speed. When connected to a 520 - kW charging pile, the actual power is 780V and 467kW. It only takes 11 minutes to charge from 19% to 80%. Whether it's the battery capacity, range performance, range achievement rate, or charging speed, I don't need to worry about the car's range at all. The electric drive system is excellent.
¡¾Space¡¿I'm 175 cm tall and weigh 130 catties. When sitting in the back row, there's a distance of more than 3 to 4 fists between my knees and the front seat. There's also enough headroom, at least 6 finger - widths from the top of my head. Reclining the seat to 135 degrees is really comfortable. You really have to experience it. After reclining, the headrest fits the head very well, and I feel like I could fall asleep as soon as I rest my head on it. We tested and found that with the rear seats folded down, at least 4 20 - inch suitcases can be placed. The space in the rear row and the trunk is quite sufficient, and they don't interfere with each other.
¡¾Voice Upgrade¡¿The Yu7 has added voiceprint recognition for Xiaomi's voice assistant, Xiaoai. It seems that a pickup has been added to the car body, allowing Xiaoai to be woken up outside the car. This is so practical. Once I bought a box of water and wanted to put it in the trunk. With both hands full of water, I just called out "Xiaoai Classmate, open the trunk" outside the car. Before, I had to put the water down and press the trunk button with my finger. Now, I don't need to take out my phone or stretch my finger to open the front or rear trunk. Or, if my phone is connected via Bluetooth, when I stand near the front trunk for 3 seconds, it will open automatically. Whether I'm putting things in the front or the back, I don't have to put the water down and move it around repeatedly. This feature is very practical for a family - use SUV. Families with kids have so many things: strollers, diapers, milk powder cans, and all kinds of shopping bags. With this feature, there's no need for repeated unlocking. It's very valuable for a family car.
¡¾Driving Experience¡¿I can clearly feel that the suspension of the Yu7 is different from the sport - oriented suspension of the Su7 Max. The Su7 has a firm, crisp, and well - feedback suspension. When passing over manhole covers on the road, the feeling is clear but not harsh. In contrast, the Yu7 is very soft and bouncy. It's obvious that Xiaomi has tuned the driving quality of the Yu7 to be a very family - friendly car, with comfort being the top priority. When the air suspension is set to the "Comfort" mode, when passing over potholes and speed bumps, the road feeling is rather fuzzy and very gentle. In this mode, when cornering at a speed of over 60 km/h, a slight roll of the vehicle can be felt. When switched to the "Sport" mode, the suspension becomes firmer. The Yu7 can accelerate from 0 - 100 km/h in 3.23 seconds, but in the "Sport +" mode, the acceleration feels much slower than that of the Su7 Max. Even when I floor the accelerator, there's no such strong pushing - back feeling as in the Su7. I guess the designers have made the first half of the acceleration more linear to take care of the elderly and children in the car. This is a good move in terms of vehicle positioning.
¡¾Sky Screen¡¿Compared with the Head - Up Display (HUD) of the Su7, the Sky Screen on the Yu7 is more interactive. It projects inside the car, and the viewing effect from the driver's seat is excellent. The HUD of the Su7 projects the image on the road. One problem is that when driving at night, the projection may fall on the taillights of the vehicle in front, which can be blinding. The Sky Screen on the Yu7 projects inside the car. Thanks to the long front of the car, the projection space is deep enough, and there's no need to shift the line of sight from the road. Whether driving on the highway at night or in the complex environment of a night market, the projection effect is not affected.
¡¾Interior¡¿With two layers of glass, the car is really quiet. When the windows are closed, you can't hear the sound from a lane away, not even a bit. The road noise on the highway is very low. You can feel that the road noise is suppressed under the wheel arches. I have an orange interior, which is very warm. But to be honest, it gets dirty easily and is not easy to clean. For light - colored interiors, it's recommended to buy a genuine leather seat cover. The Alcantara on the steering wheel is a plus. It's very comfortable, and combined with the carbon - fiber resin layer, the feel is great. The wireless charging pads have increased from one to two, but they are not deep enough. If you floor the accelerator in sport mode, the phone may slide out. It seems the Su7 has the same problem.
¡¾Exterior/Emotional Value¡¿When I drove back to downtown Shanghai from the Xiaomi car delivery center in Songjiang, Shanghai, passing through the toll booth, the toll - collecting lady asked me how much the car cost and said that the Xiaomi car looks really cool. When I stopped in the community garage to take pictures, the passing residents would gather around to praise it and said that I got the car so quickly. The overall quality of the car is really great, and it gives me the same emotional experience as when I first saw the Su7.
¡¾Suitable for Whom¡¿The Yu7 Max is a very targeted car, focusing on the riding experience and targeting young families. It has a zero - gravity front passenger seat, foldable rear seats, comfortable seats, a suspension that's neither too soft nor too hard, and supports waking up the voice assistant outside the car.
Review B
¡¾Space Sharing¡¿
The overall body of the car isn't very tall. However, compared to the SU7, it's more comfortable. The car's space is more than sufficient, but not exceptionally large. For someone 185 cm tall, the SU7 would be extremely uncomfortable, while the YU7 is much better. Moreover, for tall people, there's no obstruction when looking at the Sky Screen. Even with the dual dashboards and wireless charger added, it doesn't cause any issues. The rear - seat space is actually okay; it's not extremely large. Due to the design, the width is a bit narrow, but I think it's still usable.
¡¾Storage Space¡¿
Xiaomi cars really understand customers when it comes to storage. These spaces are exactly what we need in daily life and can keep the car's interior neater.
The upgraded cup holders are a bit small. You can't fit slightly larger cups, or milk tea and other beverages in them. Some netizens have tested before and found that water can leak to the bottom, so there's no need to worry about drainage.
The armrest box is deeper than that of the SU7. It's recommended to add a partition for more convenient use.
The two umbrella holders under the rear seats have been changed to a small drawer, which is quite convenient for storing blankets.
The trunk is relatively large. The rear seats can be folded down with one click, and the angle is about 135¡ã.
The lower layer of the trunk is divided into two areas: a sunken space and a shallow storage space. There's a very small sunken storage space in the left corner of the trunk, where you can also put some items.
¡¾Cockpit¡¿
I opted for the carbon - fiber steering wheel, which can't accurately sense when using the HAD (High - level Assisted Driving) system. The charging pad is also the most criticized point. The phone can't be fixed, and it will slide during sudden braking or starting. I'll wait and see the effect after buying a silicone pad later. I chose the coral - orange interior this time, but I actually think the twilight - blue one looks better. I had no choice because I bought a near - ready car.
This time, the two charging ports that people complained about on the SU7 have been moved to the bottom. Especially after installing the physical buttons, those two ports are completely useless. However, the cigarette - lighter port has been removed, leaving only two Type - C ports. This means I can no longer use my 50W car charger.
Review C
Let me give a review of my dream car, the Xiaomi YU7. Since I test-drove it last month, I've been thinking about having a chance to review it. Today, I'll take this opportunity to share my thoughts on its appearance, interior, space, configuration, driving experience, range and energy consumption, assisted driving, and intelligent cockpit. The overall rating will be based on a full score of 5 points.
1?? Appearance:
The overall shape is very similar to Ferrari's Purosangue. It combines sportiness with grandeur. The lines are extremely smooth, and the proportion of the vehicle's outline is well - coordinated. It's the kind of car that will definitely turn 100% of heads when driving on the street. Personally, I'll give it 4.5 points. The missing 0.5 points are because I hope Xiaomi can build a car with a truly unique styling of its own rather than imitating others.
2?? Interior:
You can opt for Nappa leather and soft padding. The official claims that it meets the mother - and - baby - grade standard. Both the driver and front - passenger seats are zero - gravity seats with thick cushions and good support. I'll give it 4 points. The overall style still hasn't broken through the style of domestic cars and doesn't give a fresh feeling. Just like before Tesla came out, no one could imagine that the interior could be so simple. It lacks the idea to break the status quo.
3?? Space:
The car is 4999mm long with a wheelbase of exactly 3000mm. The spec sheet looks quite large, which is in line with the positioning of a mid - to - large SUV. Maybe because of the overall sporty design, I don't think it's suitable for families with two or more children. I also sat in the rear seats at the dealership and found them a bit hard. That's why I'm giving it 4.5 points.
4?? Configuration:
The configuration of the YU7 is very much in line with its price range. It's equipped with an NVIDIA chip with a computing power of 700 TOPS, 1 lidar, 12 ultrasonic radars, and a high - precision positioning system as standard. After saying all this, I just want to ask why there's no rear - seat ventilation. Since it has heating, how can it lack ventilation? So, I'll also give the configuration 4.5 points.
5?? Driving Experience:
It has a CDC continuously variable damping shock absorber. In particular, the MAX version is equipped with a dual - chamber air suspension. During my previous test drive when there was road construction on the Shenyang expressway, it filtered out minor bumps very effectively, giving a sense of comfort and luxury. Moreover, the power is extremely strong. Just thinking about the 3.23 - second 0 - 100km/h acceleration gives you a strong sense of pushback (during the test drive, the salesperson didn't let me test the 0 - 100km/h acceleration for my safety). So, the driving experience definitely deserves a full score.
6?? Range and Energy Consumption:
The official standard range is 835 kilometers. The actual - measured range rate of this MAX version is 79.6%. It's equipped with a 101.7 - kWh ternary lithium battery with Kirin battery technology. In terms of the battery and range, it's just average. Maybe because the vehicle itself leans more towards sporty performance, its energy - consumption performance doesn't have an obvious advantage over its peers. I'll also give it 4.5 points.
7?? Assisted Driving:
A good assisted - driving function relies on powerful hardware configuration. The YU7 ranks among the top in terms of intelligent - driving hardware in its class. It supports high - speed navigation assistance, automatic lane - changing, and passing through ramps. It also supports parking in narrow spaces, which is a blessing for novice and female drivers. Of course, I'm still giving it 4.5 points. This score is for the entire domestic new - energy vehicle industry. There isn't a huge gap among the top - tier players in terms of assisted - driving capabilities, so there's room for improvement. I also hope that the assisted - driving capabilities of domestic cars can reach a new level.
8?? Intelligent Cockpit:
When it comes to the intelligent cockpit, we have to mention the Pengpai OS car - infotainment system of the YU7. The voice control is accurate and responsive, and the sky - screen displays information more intuitively. So, I'll give 5 points for the cockpit's intelligence.
